Aerobic Exercise:
Aerobic exercise is low intensity exercise over long periods of time. The word "Aerobic" means "with Oxygen" which refers to the oxygen being used in your muscles during the exercise. Aerobic exercise counters Anaerobic exercise because it works your muscles repetitively over long periods of time while maintaining a low intensity. Aerobic exercise can have many benefits to a healthy life which includes increasing in your work capacity, living a longer life, and will decrease your risk of cancer, diabetes, and coronary artery disease. Aerobic exercise is also considered by most experts to be the most important form of physical exercise in a persons fitness. Examples of Aerobic Exercise: Aerobic exercise simply covers any low to medium intensity workout over long periods of time. How to Start:
Simply going out and jogging or walking for 10-15, 3 times a week is a great way to start in aerobic exercise. The more you do this, the more you should increase the intensity of your workouts. Increasing your time or distance in your workouts will help increase your fitness level and allow you to move on to harder more beneficial workouts. |
